Policies for COVID-19 Virus – Per CDC Guidelines

Guests

  • If you are sick or have been exposed to someone you know to be ill, please stay home. You may contact us to either reschedule or refund your tickets if tickets have already been purchased.
  • Face masks or coverings are recommended, especially for those who are not vaccinated. Disposable face masks will be available upon request at the ticket office for no charge. Note: Please keep in mind we are following any mandates put in place by the State of Colorado and/or El Paso County, so if those change we will have to change with them.
  • Please stay a minimum safe distance (6+ distance) from other groups you are not traveling with during your visit
  • Please wash your hands frequently or use our hand sanitizer stations.
  • If you must cough or sneeze, please cover your mouth with a tissue or crook of your elbow to avoid spreading germs, unless you are already wearing a face mask.
  • Please purchase your tickets online to reduce the contact between employees and guests.

Employees

  • All employees must stay home if they are sick or have been exposed to someone who is.
  • There will be daily health screenings for all employees, including onsite temperature checks.
  • All employees will be required to stay a minimum safe distance (6+ distance) and take frequent small breaks to wash their hands.
  • All commonly touched surfaces are sanitized as frequently as possible throughout the day.
  • Indoor ventilation has been increased, where possible.

Payment

We require payment at the time of purchase. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Please review your purchase carefully prior to submitting. Your credit card will be charged when you click “accept” on the final confirmation page. After you purchase tickets, the document with your tickets is the receipt for your purchase: The charges for this purchase will appear on the receipt.

Using Your eTickets

This ticket is for a specific time, the time you choose will be the time your tour will start, NO EXCEPTIONS. You must show up at least 20-30 minutes prior to your chosen tour time to be checked in and placed on your tour. You MUST bring a copy of EACH eTicket you have purchased with you when you come to visit the Cave of the Winds. E-tickets can either be printed or shown on a mobile device. Go directly to our Reservation/Online window at the Ticket Office for further directions on where to meet you guide for your tour. Please DO NOT go directly to the Cave’s entrance. 

This ticket is a revocable license. Any violation of law or any other inappropriate behavior by the user of this ticket during the event may result in revocation of the license and the user being removed from the venue with no refund of the purchase price or any associated charges. User of this ticket assumes all responsibility for all risk of bodily harm as well as damage to or loss of property while attending this event. WARNING: THIS TICKET IS FOR PURCHASE OR TRANSFER BY ELECTRONIC MEANS ONLY. PURCHASE OF THIS TICKET FROM OR SOLD BY A THIRD PARTY IS NOT AUTHORIZED. TICKETS NOT PURCHASED ELECTRONICALLY CARRY A GREAT RISK OF BEING FRAUDULENT. VENUE OPERATOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REQUIRE PHOTO I.D. FOR ENTRY.

Refunds, Exchanges, and Upgrades

Tour ticket purchases are only valid for the time and date the tickets are purchased for. The time selected will be when your tour will start, NO EXCEPTIONS. Please arrive at the park at least 20-30 minutes prior to your tour time to give yourself time to park and check-in at the ticket office.

Refunds or reschedules online: Refunds and reschedules must be requested at least ONE HOUR prior to your scheduled tour time. Once your tour time for the ticket(s) has/have passed, your tickets are not refundable. You may request a refund by providing your 12-digit order number and/or the email address associated with your ticket purchase. All refunds must be approved by a manager. Rescheduling requests can only be accommodated if there is availability for the time and date you wish to reschedule to.

Refunds and reschedules may be requested by filling out a request online, calling 719-685-5444 option 6, or chatting with us live from our website. Please do NOT reply to your confirmation email as your request will not be received.

Refund or reschedules at the ticket office: Tickets may be rescheduled or refunded at the ticket office at least ONE HOUR before your scheduled tour time. To request a refund for your tickets or reschedule your tour time at the ticket office you will need to provide your 12-digit order number and/or the email address associated with your purchase. Once your tour time has passed, tickets are not refundable.

If the park must be closed: In the unusual situation Cave of the Winds must close and cancel your reservation, due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances beyond anyone’s control, we will make every attempt to contact you with the contact information you provided. In this event you will be entitled to a refund for the full purchase price of your tickets or given the option to reschedule to another available date and time.

Refund Processing Information: Refunds are processed as soon as the request is received but may take up to 3-7 business days to reflect on your bank account.

Disclaimer

If you are purchasing tickets with a Military Discount you MUST present a valid Military ID at our Ticket Office upon arrival for your tour. If you do not present a valid Military ID you will be charged full price for your tickets.

Policies for Above Ground Adventures and Rides

Rider Requirements:

Wind Walker Challenge Course, Cliff Hanger Climbing Wall, and Geronimo’s Leap: All riders must be at least 42″ inches tall to go with a paying adult or 48” inches tall to go alone, less than 300 lbs., and securely fit the harnesses to be allowed on the course. Shoes must be closed toed and secure to the feet; Sandals, high heels, flip flops, etc. will not be allow on the course. Riders must also wear either shorts or pants. Skirts cannot be accommodated due to the nature of the harnesses.

Bat-a-Pult Zip Line: All riders must be at least 42″ inches tall to go with a paying adult or 48” inches tall to go alone, less than 300 lbs., and securely fit the harnesses to ride. 2 riders together must be less than 450 lbs. combined to ride together.

Terror-Dactyl: All riders must be at least 48” tall, a minimum of 100 lbs., and less the 250lbs to ride. 2 riders must be less than 450 lbs. combine and with no more than a difference of 100 lbs. between them to ride together.

Frontier Zip Lines: All Guests must be at least 12 years of age, 48’ tall, weigh between 90 lbs. and 260 lbs., and securely fit the harnesses to participate. Shoes must be closed toed and secure to the feet; Sandals, high heels, flip flops, etc. will not be allow on the course. Sturdy hiking shoes are strongly recommended. Riders must also wear either shorts or pants. Skirts cannot be accommodated due to the nature of the harnesses.

Via Ferrata Canyon Tours: All Guests must be at least 12 years of age, 48’ tall, weigh between 90 lbs. and 260 lbs., and securely fit the harnesses to participate. Shoes must be closed toed and secure to the feet; Sandals, high heels, flip flops, etc. will not be allow on the course. Sturdy hiking shoes are strongly recommended. Riders must also wear either shorts or pants. Skirts cannot be accommodated due to the nature of the harnesses.

This is a general admission purchase not a reservation, and is only valid for the date the tickets are purchased for. Via Ferrata Canyon Tour tickets will be valid for the date and time the tickets are purchased for and will start at the time chosen, NO EXCEPTIONS. Be sure to arrive NO LATER than 1 hour prior to the park closing to be guaranteed to ride, weather permitting, or at least 30 minutes prior to your Frontier Zip Line and/or Via Ferrata Tour start time. You MUST bring a copy of EACH eTicket you have purchased with you when you come to visit the Cave of the Winds Mountain Park. eTickets can either be printed or shown on a mobile device. Go directly to our Reservation/Online window at the Ticket Office to receive your WRISTBANDS and/or loading tickets for ride(s) you have purchased. Please DO NOT go directly to the Ride Entrance. 

This ticket is a revocable license. Any violation of law or any other inappropriate behavior by the user of this ticket during the event may result in revocation of the license and the user being removed from the venue with no refund of the purchase price or any associated charges. User of this ticket assumes all responsibility for all risk of bodily harm as well as damage to or loss of property while attending this event. Disclaimer

The Outdoor Attractions are weather permitting: Summertime in Colorado can be very unpredictable! The common saying is, “If you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes!” Occasionally due to the impending weather or storms, it is necessary to close our Outdoor Activities for everyone’s safety. Most of the time the Outdoor Activities can reopen when the weather clears up again. If the Outdoor activities must remain closed for up to an hour or longer purchaser may request to reschedule or refund their purchased tickets.

Payment

Using Your e-Tickets

Your Season Pass is valid only for the person to whom it is issued.  Each Season Pass is good for only one person’s admission to the Discovery Tour, Pioneer Package, and Terror-dactyl. Purchaser understands that admission to the Lantern Tour, Via Ferrata Canyon Tour, and Frontier Zip Lines requires a reservation and an additional fee per person, each time you visit.

You MUST bring a copy of EACH eTicket you have purchased with you when you come to visit the Cave of the Winds for the first time. E-tickets can either be printed or shown on a mobile device. Go directly to our Reservation/E-Ticket window at the Ticket Office to receive your permanent SEASON PASS CARD. Your permanent SEASON PASS CARD must be kept with you at all times and presented to each cashier from whom you make a gift or food purchase during your visit in order to receive your discount benefits.

Each time you visit Cave of the Winds, card holder must present their Season Pass and a valid ID to our Reservation/E-Ticket window at the Ticket Office to be placed on the next available tour and/or to receive a wrist band and/o loading ticket for admission to any of the outdoor activities. Please DO NOT go directly to the Cave’s entrance or ride gate.

Your Season Pass will be valid for ONLY the Discovery tour, Pioneer Package, and Terror-dactyl depending on availability upon your arrival. The Pioneer Package, Terror-dactyl, Frontier Zip Lines, and Via Ferrata Canyon Tour are available weather permitting.

This ticket is a revocable license. Any violation of law or any other inappropriate behavior by the user of this ticket while on Cave of the Winds property may result in revocation of their Season Pass and the user being removed from the property with no refund of the purchase price or any associated charges. User of this ticket assumes all responsibility for all risk of bodily harm as well as damage to or loss of property while participating in any property activity and or while on property.

Refunds, Exchanges, and Upgrades

All sales of this pass are final. Passes may NOT be used with any other discount offers or group pricing unless otherwise specified.

Policies for Group Reservations and Birthday Parties

Reservation Arrival Procedures:

Please DO NOT go directly to the Cave Entrance. Upon arrival the Group Leader must go to the Reservation Desk located inside the Gift Shop. After the group has been checked in the Tour Guides will be sent out to greet the rest of the group and begin the tour.

Payment Policy:

School Groups: All In-State School Groups are required to make a $10 minimum deposit at the time the reservation is made, which will be applied toward the reservation total. Upon arrival School Groups must pay for at least 80% of the total number of people on their reservation, or for the total of 15 people, whichever total is greater.

Birthday Parties: All Birthday Parties are required to make a deposit of 50% of the party total when placing their reservation with the remainder of the payment due upon arrival for the party.

Other Groups: All other groups must pay a deposit of 50% of the grand tour total at the time the reservation is made with the remainder of the payment due upon arrival for the tour.

Accepted Payments: ALL payments can made with Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, or Cash. We do NOT accept business, school, or personal checks. You may pay over the phone with either your Visa, Discover, American Express, or MasterCard by calling (719) 685-5444 ext. 5056 (or Option 5 in the menu), or online during your online reservation process.

Amendment & Cancellation Policy:

1) Flashlights and other tour specific needs may be necessary depending on which tour has been chosen. 2) In the event this reservation is cancelled in less than 72 hours of the reserved date (excluding acts of nature) and not rescheduled, no refund will be issued. 3) Any amendments or changes, including cancellations, must be IN WRITING. Requests can either be faxed to (719)685-1712, emailed to info@caveofthewinds.com, or you may submit a request online (After the reservation is made, no voice messages or phone conversations will be accepted). All changes to this reservation must be made at least 72 hours in advance of coming to the cave, otherwise the original terms will be honored by all parties.

Disclaimer:

All tour length times are approximate, and tour times are conditional to the number of your participants and your selected add-ons, if any. If more people are added to your tour, regardless of status (i.e. Students, Teachers, Chaperones, Volunteers, Parents, Siblings, etc.), your tour may be modified to accommodate the numbers.

Any group planning shopping time must have at least 1 chaperone to every 5 students in the Gift Shop at all times. If necessary the group may send in only 5 students at a time while the remainder of the group wait in the Pavilion.

If arriving by a bus please review the “Bus Policy For Drivers” for instructions on requesting a road block.

Bus/RV Policy Information

The road up to Cave of the Winds is a two-lane mountain road with a 12% grade and six (6) hairpin turns.  Well-maintained buses usually have no problem driving up this road.

However, Cave of the Winds requires a notification 15 minutes before your arrival so an employee can block traffic on the road from both directions allowing the bus drivers to safely drive up the road. If you are arriving in an RV that is 30′ feet or longer you may be asked to park at the bottom parking lot and you will be shuttled up to the top from there.

Please phone Cave of the Winds at (719) 550-5060, or (719) 685-5444 Ext 6 and tell the employee who answers you are on your way in a bus.  Upon arrival, turn right at the stop light and proceed approximately 500 feet up to the parking area by the flagpole in front of the iron Cave of the Winds archway. An employee will meet you and give you further instructions on when you can proceed up the hill. Do NOT proceed until the employee gives you an “ALL CLEAR.”  As you drive up the road, please take the corners wide and proceed up safely.

When you are ready to go back down the hill, contact the attendant in the Ticket Office. They will arrange to block the road for you again, so you can go down the highway as safely as you came up. Please wait in the bus parking lot until an employee arrives to direct you back down the hill. Do NOT proceed until the employee gives you an “ALL CLEAR.”

If you are going to be early or late for your reservation, please call and notify Cave of the Winds at (719) 685-5444 Ext. 6 of your arrival time to eliminate any delays getting your bus up the road.

Cave of the Winds will not be responsible for any incidents or delays incurred by the bus company if you fail to contact Cave of the Winds in advance or follow the directions given by Cave of the Winds staff upon arrival.
