Christmas Storytime at
Cave of the Winds!
December 21st and 22nd
11am, 1pm, and 3pm
Looking for a fun holiday activity for your kids?
Join us for a special holiday event designed especially for children! We will be reading an original Christmas-themed story written and illustrated by our talented cave employees.
Afterwards, kids will be given an opportunity to decorate their own Christmas ornament and write their letters to Santa.
Appropriate for children up to 5th grade. All children signed up must be accompanied by a parent/adult.

Bat Appreciation Day
INTERNATIONAL BAT APPRECIATION DAY on April 20th is a chance to show our flying and mostly nocturnal friends some love.
- Come join us here at Cave of the Winds Mountain Park on this day and let’s creep a little “deeper into the cave” and take a closer look at everything these flying mammals have to offer and why we literally can not live without them.
- Kids can also celebrate our furry little friends as they get to meet Professor Bat E. and ask any bat related questions for a fun and educational good time.

Homeschool Tours
Looking for a field trip for kids who are homeschooled or doing online learning?
Join us for our homeschool tours! Spark your elementary school kids’ love of learning by teaching them about caves, the animals that live in them, and the beauty of nature! Build their knowledge and love of Colorado caves with an age-appropriate curriculum guaranteed to get them excited about an undiscovered world hiding right under their feet!

Cool Science Festival Bats & Caves Tour
Join us on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. for a special tour geared toward kindergarten through 5th grade – but anyone can join! When you choose this introductory cave program you will explore the inside of Temple Mountain at Cave of the Winds Mountain Park, experience our Geology Lab in our underground lab, learn about bats during the bat class, pan for your own gemstone collection on the sluice, and more!
- Cost: $12 per person

With only a handheld lantern, wind your way deep inside Cave of the Winds and hear spine-chilling ghost stories, learn about unexplained phenomena and the true raw history of Cave of the Winds. This Haunted Lantern Tour has EXTRA SPOOKY appeal for those of you looking for hair-raising fun!

Haunted Lantern Tour
Director's Cut
- This tour is available between October 4th - 31st starting at 6pm
- Cost: $45 per adult (ages 13+)
- Due to some disturbing content children under the age of 13 are not permitted.
- This tour is not recommended if you have knee or back problems, heart or respiratory conditions, trouble seeing in dimly lit areas or if you frighten easily.
- This tour will require you to go through a passage about 250' feet long and about 48" inches high, twice, while carrying an open flame candle lantern.
- The only source of light during the whole tour will be an open flame bucket lantern, which will provide only dim lighting.
- The Haunted Lantern Tour: Director's Cut will last about 2 hours

Mattersville Pack 22 is Back!
Mattersville Pack 22 will be returning with some of their wolfdogs to Cave of the Winds on October 19th, 2024 at 11:30am. Picture and meet-and-greet opportunities will be available.
Mattersville is THE largest wolfdog sanctuary/rescue in the country, with over 140 animals housed between their two locations in Yoder and Sedalia, Colorado. Mattersville is also a sustainable community project for American Veterans suffering from PTSD. Pack 22 is Mattersville’s volunteer animal care team who tends to the pack. Their Heroes & Hybrids Program is designed to integrate the lives of military veterans and the wolfdogs, and to bring awareness to the 22 Veteran suicides that occur daily.
Like all non-profits [501(c)(3)], donations from the public (and volunteers) are the lifeline to the continued operation of the organization. Please come support Mattersville and Pack 22, learn more about their mission and cause, and see how you might be able to help.

Terror-dactyl:
The first of its kind anywhere in the world, this ride sits on the edge of a 200-foot cliff in Williams Canyon in Manitou Springs. Those brave enough to ride will be launched over 150 feet into the canyon at nearly 100 miles per hour!
Note: Everyone must be at least 48″ inches tall, weight between 100 – 250 lbs. to ride. Two riders must weight less than 450 lbs. combined, and have no more than 100 lbs. in difference between them to ride together.

Cool Science Festival
Caving 101 Tour
Join us on Thursday, October 12th, 2023 at 11:00am for a special Caving 101 Tour! Take your middle and high school aged students on an exciting caving trek! Students will explore undeveloped sections of the Manitou Grand Caverns, while climbing and crawling through passageways lit only by flashlight. Knowledgeable guides provide groups with approximately 2 hours of good clean, yet muddy fun underground! Students can expect an exciting adventure that will culminate in a deeper knowledge about the Colorado cavern system. Caving 101: Introduction to Caving is a tour that teaches about the wonders beneath their feet in a fun and accessible way.
All participants must bring a headlamp, a pair of gloves, a change of clothes, and an extra pair of shoes. Crawling is required and the cave is often muddy, so long sleeve shirts and long pants are a must. Please wear clothing you won’t mind getting dirty and possibly ruined by the cave mud. The cave is always around 54 degrees Fahrenheit year round, no matter the weather outside
- Cost: $25 per person, must be at least age 9 to participate.
- Includes a crawling, climbing tour through the Manitou Grand Caverns.
- Please wear long sleeves and long pants. Prepare to get muddy so wear clothing you won't mind getting ruined.
- Must bring headlamp, a pair gloves, a change of clothes, and an extra pair of shoes.
- All Participants must fill out Caving Waiver to partipate. Anyone under the age of 18 will need a parent or guardian to sign the waiver for them.

LOOKING FOR ADVENTURE?
Expedition Tour
Explore the wild, undeveloped depths of Cave of the Winds on this 2-1/2 to 3 hour guided tour that involves an assortment of crawling and climbing through wet and muddy passages of various sizes. On this tour, you will travel for nearly a mile while learning about basic caving skills, geology, zoology, cave history, as well as some myths and legends.
Please expect there to be open exposure, sheer drop offs, tight spaces, ropes and ladders, and muddy floors.
Note: Children under the age of 13 are not permitted. This tour is also not recommended for guests who are or may be pregnant, have heart or respiratory problems, or have back or knee trouble.
- Approximately 2 1/2 - 3 hours
- Online Reservations are required for the Expedition Tour due to the limited space.
- Must bring gloves, a change of clothes, and extra pair of shoes.
- Knee pads are optional, but not required.
- Please expect to get muddy so wear clothing you won't mind getting dirty and possibly ruined. Long sleeve shirts, long pants, and sturdy closed toed shoes are required.
- Helmets and headlamps will be provided.

END OF SUMMER FLASH SALE!
Get ready to zip! To get to the launching point for the zip lines, you’ll harness up at our Gear Shack at Cave of the Winds Frontier Canyon, right next to the entrance for the cave tours. You’ll take a short 1/2 mile hike up the side of the mountain, traversing a few switchbacks amidst the beauty of the Rocky Mountain wilderness. Once on top you’ll harness on at the launching point and Zzzzzzzzip, you’re off for smiles of fun!
Everyone must wear closed toed shoes that cannot fall off their feet. Sandals, high heels, flip flops, etc. will not be allowed. Sturdy hiking shoes are strongly recommended. Also, wear either shorts or pants as skirts cannot be accommodated due to the nature of the harnesses.
