Wear comfortable clothing: jeans or shorts will do. Make sure your shoes have good traction – sneakers or hiking boots are ideal. Bring a light jacket – even in the heat of a Colorado summer, the temperature in these Colorado caves is a pleasant 54 degrees Fahrenheit (12 degrees Celsius).

Front baby carriers are permitted on the Discovery Tour ONLY. Our caves have low ceilings, as well as narrow passageways with over 200 stairs, so strollers and baby backpacks are not allowed.

All children must be at least 8 years old to go on the Haunted Lantern Tour, and at least 13 years old to go on the Expedition Crawling & Spelunking Tour

The cave itself is not wheelchair-accessible because of its narrow passageways and stairs. We can give you a complimentary visit into the Canopy Hall, the first room in the Cave, which highlights beautiful formations. Wheelchair access is available in the Nature Center, Pavilion, Canyon Rim Grill, Gift Shop, and restrooms.

Pets are not allowed in Cave of the Winds Mountain Park. However, service animals are welcome.

Cave of the Winds Mountain Park is an exciting Colorado natural attraction that can be enjoyed by everyone in your family, from toddlers to grandparents. Cave tours or rides are not recommended for pregnant women or people with heart or respiratory problems. All family members can enjoy our visitor center, gift shop, and the lovely views of Williams Canyon.

We are open every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. On Memorial Day and July 4th, we are open 9 a.m.-9 p.m. On Christmas Eve we are open from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. (last tour at 1 p.m.). On New Year’s Day, Easter and Labor Day, we are open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Click here for a list of hours by month.

Military personnel, with a valid ID, will receive 10% off any full price cave tour and ride. To purchase your tickets online just enter MILITARY24 at checkout to receive your discount.

We also offer special discounts for members of the National Caves Association or the National Speleological Society. Just show your membership card at the ticket office for a free admission to the Discovery Tour. We do NOT offer AAA, AARP, or senior discounts. Adventure makes a great gift! Yes, we do sell gift certificates. You can purchase gift certificates either over the phone or by coming into our gift shop in person. Unfortunately, they are not available to purchase online currently. To purchase your gift certificate over the phone just call 719-685-5444 and press option 6. When you purchase over the phone, we will mail it wherever you would like through regular mail.

Yes! We encourage cameras and camcorders in the cave.

Yes, our Canyon Rim Grill! Open daily after March 15 for spring break; After spring break and before Memorial Day: open Wednesday-Sunday (closed Monday and Tuesday); Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, open daily, 10 a.m -7 p.m.

Parking is free at Cave of the Winds Mountain Park!

At the present time, Williams Canyon is closed to all hiking. Due to the Waldo Canyon Fire, the U.S. National Forest Service has closed the area to all hiking.

We are located near the foot of Pikes Peak, and there are a variety of hotels and campgrounds close to Cave of the Winds Mountain Park. Click here for listings 

You can purchase tickets as far in advance as you would like but booking at least 1-2 days in advance would still give you a decent choice of tour times. However, if you have a large group of 15 people total or more you will need to book at least 10 days in advance.

Reservations for tours are accepted for groups of 15 or more. A deposit is required, and we recommend that you make reservations at least two weeks in advance. For reservations and group rates, call 719-685-5444, ext. 5 or email us at

Tour ticket purchases are only valid for the time and date the tickets are purchased for. The time selected will be when your tour will start, no exceptions. Please arrive at the park at least 20-30 minutes prior to your tour time to give yourself time to park and check-in at the ticket office.

Refunds or reschedules online: Refunds and reschedules must be requested at least ONE HOUR prior to your scheduled tour time. Once your tour time for the ticket(s) has/have passed, your tickets are not refundable. You may request a refund by providing your 12-digit order number and/or the email address associated with your ticket purchase. All refunds must be approved by a manager. Rescheduling requests can only be accommodated if there is availability for the time and date you wish to reschedule to.

Refunds and reschedules may be requested by filling out a request online, calling 719-685-5444 option 6, or chatting with us live from our website. Please do NOT reply to your confirmation email as your request will not be received.

Refund or reschedules at the ticket office: Tickets may be rescheduled or refunded at the ticket office at ONE HOUR before your scheduled tour time. To request a refund for your tickets or reschedule your tour time at the ticket office you will need to provide your 12-digit order number and/or the email address associated with your purchase. Once your tour time has passed, tickets are not refundable.

If the park must be closed: In the unusual situation Cave of the Winds must close and cancel your reservation, due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances beyond anyone’s control, we will make every attempt to contact you with the contact information you provided. In this event you will be entitled to a refund for the full purchase price of your tickets or given the option to reschedule to another available date and time.

Refund Processing Information: Refunds are processed as soon as the request is received but may take up to 3-7 business days to reflect on your bank account.
