Colorado Springs area

People around the country love taking Colorado Springs vacations with their family and friends. But why? The answer is simple. With over 50 Colorado Springs area attractions, this vibrant city, nestled up against Pikes Peak, offers action-packed days of non-stop fun and Colorado attractions adventure!

Founded in 1871, Colorado Springs has quickly become Colorado’s second-largest city, behind its capital, Denver. Colorado Springs is the heart of the Pikes Peak region, which also includes Manitou Springs, Old Colorado City, Cañon City, Cripple Creek, Woodland Park, Victor and Green Mountain Falls.

At an elevation of over 6,000 feet, Colorado Springs records over 300 days of annual sunshine, which bodes well for the entire family of Colorado Springs area attractions. The peak tourism months occur from June through August, and the region attracts over 6 million visitors annually –  mostly from those taking extended Colorado Springs Vacations or from those visiting just for the day.

Colorado Springs’ most recognizable feature is the city’s scenic back-drop, Pikes Peak, which stands over the city at over 14,000 feet. Pikes Peak is the inspiration behind “America the Beautiful” after it was written by visiting English professor Katharine Lee Bates in August 1893. To reach the top of Pikes Peak, visitors can either take the Cog Railway, which is a breath-taking trip by train, or they can drive up the 19-mile Pikes Peak Highway.
